Kaboose provides a safe space for autistic and neurodivergent individuals to foster meaningful social connections and enhance mental well-being. Offering both in-person and online social groups and activities, Kaboose strives to reduce loneliness and improve the quality of life within the community. Since its inception in 2021, Kaboose has garnered recognition as a finalist in prestigious programs like the iAwards and Startup Vic x One Roof: HerStartup Pitch Night.
The Problem
The client expressed dissatisfaction with the existing product's user experience, citing sluggish performance, bugs, and an unappealing design. Limited verification processes raised concerns about security and trustworthiness, while the absence of public groups hindered community engagement.
The Thinking
The Kaboose App set out to achieve the following objectives:

The Build
Octoco embarked on a comprehensive overhaul of Kaboose, focusing on rectifying existing issues and enhancing functionality. Initiatives included improving the onboarding process, enhancing user profiles with profile picture integration, and introducing notifications for improved engagement.
Significant improvements were made to the onboarding process, simplifying the journey for new users. User profiles were enhanced with customisation options and profile picture integration. The introduction of notifications and public group chats fosters wider engagement and community interaction while ensuring users stay informed.

Delivering this called for a comprehensive overhaul of an existing product - resolving performance and design issues while implementing robust safety measures to enhance user trust and privacy for a community of autistic and neurodivergent users.
The Result
Bug fixes and performance enhancements resolved general issues, while redesigning the registration flow improved onboarding. Users can personalise profiles with profile pictures, enhancing identity within the app. The introduction of Public Tribes encourages wider community engagement, with added functionalities for managing group chats. In-app notifications keep users informed and engaged with platform activities.
